Sockerbit: Sweet & Swedish in NYC

Thursday, March 31, 2011

A new candy store opened up here in NYC called Sockerbit! All Swedish candies. I don't know too much about Swedish candies but I (and many others) know that I inhale candy like it's my job. That's enough for me to pay a visit to this cute shop. Tasty imported candy makes me very happy. I think I had crazy sweet tooth eyes the whole time I was here.

My picks: gummies, marshmallows, sours and a bit of chocolate!

I will be back very soon once my bag is empty!

Ippolita Sweet Adornments Jewelry Event!

Thursday, March 24, 2011

As you may already know, I am absolutely obsessed with jewelry so when I was recently invited to attend Ippolita's Sweet Adornments Event, it was a big fat yes from me!  On display were Ippolita's latest collections and I was able to drool over a few key pieces that I wouldn't mind having in my own personal stash.

To stay with the theme, cute candies were placed on every table.
The Resin collection.
I really need a set of irregular gold bangles on my arm right now.
Gorgeous Rosé.
Ginormous Ippolita earrings!
There was a delicious cocktail menu. I chose one made with peach lemonade.
The extra treat was being able to take home a custom charm necklace/bracelet. The choices were pretty endless so I picked out the charms above: a mix of sterling silver paired with a touch of topaz. I can't wait to string these onto individual necklaces!

Big thanks to Ippolita and Wetherly Fashion Group!

Brunch and Bubbles

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

There really is nothing better than getting at least 8+ hours of sleep and then stuffing your face. Thank goodness brunch is served until 4ish because I actually like to sleep in on the weekend. One of my recent favorite places for food and drink is Sweet Afton in Astoria. Usually I'd go there for dinner (fried pickles!) but yesterday I tried out their brunch menu for the first time and it was amaaaze. Blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs were shared and I had a blueberry muddle.

Then after some time in Manhattan the day ended at Saint's Alp Teahouse with some bubble tea and toast with condensed milk poured on top of it. I firmly believe that condensed milk makes everything better!

Rock Candy

Friday, March 18, 2011

Kirsten of Studs and Pearls recently relaunched her online jewelry shop, Limette, and everything is so cute and well made. I received my order the yesterday and I love the packaging! My latest "thing" is  jewelry made of rough stones so this gray agate druzy stone ring fit the bill. Oh yes, and the most important part: from now until April 14, 10% of all sales made at Limette will go to Japan relief efforts!

Braid-orade!

Monday, March 14, 2011

I have been into playing around with braids lately. They are effortless and look good messy. My recent favorite is the dutch braid, shown above. It's so easy and makes the braid pop out more than a typical french braid.

I also experimented with milkmaid braids and I think they turned out quite well. The key is day old hair (not a fan) and rubbery bobby pins which I actually need in my possession.

You may have seen this photo already if you follow my Tumblr so I do apologize. If you don't follow me on Tumblr, you really should because I post fun random photos from my iPhone (new obsession) all the time while I'm out and about! Follow HERE!

A Food-y Saturday

Sunday, March 6, 2011

My friend Jewlie and had a tea date at Sanctuary T in Soho. It's a really cute tea spot/restaurant. Since it was 60 degrees (unheard of since it's still winter), they had the front doors and windows open and it made for an all around great brunch.  We paired chocolate scones with chai tea which included cute rock candy sticks to swirl into our tea. Then we had warm brie crips. Yum!

After that, we headed over to a little pop up gallery that is up this weekend in honor of Peanut Butter Month cleverly named the Nutropolitan Museum of Art. It featured photos of interesting peanut butter sandwiches and everyone leaves with a coupon for a free jar of Peanut Butter & Co. peanut butter that I am very excited to try! This is typically my idea of fun on a Saturday afternoon in New York City.
